We are SoundChicks!
We came 3rd in the National Blastbeat Mini-company competition in the 08/09 programme :)
This was the first year our school competed, and hopefully won't be the last!
Downhill, the band that won our own Battle of the Bands, came overal 1st place in the musicians competition.
They won a record deal with Blastbeat which includes promotional activity and gig slots, and a backline from Walton's Music =D
All the information you could want about us can be found in the blogs @ [www.blastbeat.tv/soundchicks/blog] :D

==============================
The band that won our battle of the bands are called Downhill, a five-piece pop-punk band from Dublin that began after Dano and Conor talked about Blink182.
The next member they recruited was Aido from Duck Proof Chimney (another band from the Dublin). Their sound developed, and soon began catching ears and hips all over the place, along with a guitarist by the name of Al. Shortly after this, Aido left the band and moved to Mayo.
Soon after Aido’s departure, Al met a fellow by the name of Shane, and after realising they shared most of the same interests, recruited him as vocalist for the band. The others agreeing with Al’s find, Shane became a permanent member of the band. The outfit wasn’t completed however, and Dano decided to give his cousin Tim a call…and hey presto they had a bassist!
Finally a full band, they set about writing and recording songs and making a name for themselves on the Dublin underground circuit.
Now firmly planted in the scene, they’re spreading their infectious music around the country and overseas - via the magic of the internet!
Shane left the band late in 2008, and his replacement, Justin Byrne, performed his first show at SoundChicks' Blastbeat event in January of 2009.
Their second EP was recorded in Jealoustown Studios in Meath in April/May of 2009 and will be released in the summer of 2009.
The EP is to be called 'This is our Progress' and the tracklisting is as follows:
1. Intro
2. Worst Situations
3. Home
4. Always on the Run
5. The All Nighter
